The night the lights went out in NYC

The Ataris

The lights are out in the city tonight
So close your eyes, gaze up at the heavens
And see if you can point me out

If I could have one wish tonight
I'd wish upon a satellite
To bring me back to you
We spend our whole lives searching for
All the things we think we want
And never really knowing what we have

So many paths that we can take
To bring us to our destiny
Gaze up at the heavens
And see if you can point me out

If I could have one wish tonight
I'd wish upon a satellite
To bring me back to you
We spend our whole lives searching for
All the things we think we want
And never really knowing what we have

Be careful what you wish for
These stars are fading out.

writing for a moment..

It's 2 am in campus.. I've been going to the lab regularly in the past two weeks since my laptop broke down. Right now, some smart-ass is playing with our server that handles our 'home' space (writer note: home space = network 'harddisk' that let you were reserved for each student, that they can access from any PC in the lab). As it happens, my so-called codes ARE IN THERE! WHY AM I YELLING??.

Okay, I'll cool down a little bit.

Fortunately, United beat Liverpool earlier this evening. A very good performance if I may say so. Keano back to his brilliant best, Rio plays like he's never been away, and Ronaldo, what can you say about Ronaldo, the boy got rockets in his boots! He's so fookin' fast the pool players looked like bicycle trying to catch a Ferrari. Wes Brown and 57 deserves a mention too, Brown in particular, he's been so unfortunate with injuries that it was nice to see him playing really well. He got Kewell so deep in his pocket for the first minute to the last.

But I must take my hats off Silvestre, he's been awful lately, much to the point that I hope he gets benched for a game of two. But he repay Fergie's faith with 2 brilliant headed goals.
The midfield combo of O'Shea and Keane looked very good, roll on Spurs!

losing faith in society

Some time ago, I posted my review on Spider-Man 2. In that review, I mention a few things that I don't like about the first one. One of them is that scene in the bridge where people of New York helped Spidey fights the Green Goblin. A few days ago, I realize why I didn't like that scene, it's because I think that's scene is too unrealistic. "Hah, but that's a comic book movie! of course it's unrealistic!" I hear you said. Of course, but even in comic book movies that are some things that based on reality. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, I found it hard to believe that in society, or in this case people who lives in (big) cities, could care much about anybody else but themselves. According to me, the most logical action in that situation is just run for your live. Come on, the bad guy have weapons that could turn a man into dust just in a matter of seconds, and they're throwing rocks at him???

IMHO, society is a bunch of self egoistic individuals who thinks only about themselves. They don't care about anybody else, as long as they're not bothered. So, doing something for a complete stranger, is really out of question. I don't think it's entirely their fault anyway, cause I believe that most people are like that stemmed by their instinct for survival. If you want to lived in a big bad world, you must become a big bad person. As someone said on the redcafe forum, the older we get, the more cynical we get. We used to think that everybody is good unless proven otherwise, now it's the other way around.

Maybe I should take a leaf out of Batman's book..

Batman: "I trust no one"
Martian Manhunter: "a wise policy"

You just know there's something wrong

Just a quick recap.
My deadline is exactly a month from now, and I just found out yesterday afternoon that my program has a major flaw. I've been up all night fixing it, and still have to continue until the next day (today that is).
I still have to create test cases for the application, and haven't wrote a single piece of my supposed 15000 words project report. And I supposed to write the report preferably a week before deadline so I can have someone reading it, and give input on the report.. Aint life a grand.
Oh, I'll be moving out from the student accomodation tomorrow, to a rented house with fellow Indonesians. Can't say I'll missed the place to be honest. Anyway, it's much cheaper there, and the house also have internet connection, so no worries there.

I watch Purely Belter when I took a break tonite. Quite a fun movie, about 2 kids who are desperate to buy a season tickets for Newcastle United, but didn't have enough money. So they use every imaginable way to get their hands on some cash. That's include, stealing, selling junk and last but not least, robbing a bank. Alan Shearer makes an appearance, but only for a second. I like it, although not too much. And it's kinda nice to see a movie where the location is just around the corner..
